The 2014 Honda City will be launched for the Indian market tomorrow. It was unveiled at a function in Delhi on November 25 and is the second car from the Japanese automaker to feature a diesel engine. It also gets a revised design both inside and outside as well as an expanded feature list. We have already driven both the petrol and diesel variants and you can find the road tests below.
The 2014 Honda City gets new front and rear bumpers, fascia but retains the same overall proportions. Honda has however, increased its wheelbase in a bid to increase the space inside the cabin. It has worked significantly to increase the feature list in the car and the top spec diesel and petrol versions get push button start, touch screen climate control and infotainment system, leather upholstery, rear AC vents and rear parking camera. Standard features across all variants include dual airbags, ABS+EBD and electric OVRMs.
The new Honda City Diesel is powered by the 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine that produces 98bhp and 200Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. Honda will also continue to offer the 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine which has now been tuned to produce 116bhp and 146Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a five-speed manual or a CVT gearbox.
The 2014 Honda City is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 7.5 lakh to Rs 11.5 lakh and competes with the Hyundai Verna, Renault Scala, Skoda Rapide and the Volkswagen Vento. We will be bringing you live updates from the launch so stay tuned to CarWale for all the details.
