Every year Ford builds and auctions a one-off Mustang for EAA Young Eagles Organization in the US, and this year’s creation is dedicated to U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds multi-jet flight demonstration team. It is called the 2014 Ford Mustang Thunderbird edition that also commemorates the 60 anniversary of the team.
Based on the Mustang GT glass-roof coupe, the Thunderbird edition is fitted with a Ford Racing supercharger, performance suspension pack, Brembo brakes, Recaro seats and Forgiato 22-inch wheels. The special edition sports a brilliant white livery with red and blue accents that match the Thunderbirds’ F-16 Falcons. The visual updates also include a wid body kit and a hand painted belly-pan.
Inside, the instrument cluster and navigation screen has been modified, while the rear seats are removed. The detailing on the upholstery has Thunderbirds’ elements and there are unique sill plates and puddle lamps that project aircraft silhouette when the doors open.
The one-off creation will go under the hammer on August 1 at Winconsin, US; while we continue to sulk over the fact that the Mustangs are not sold in India.
