After introducing the comprehensively updated Linea facelift at the 2014 Auto Expo, Fiat India is now working on giving a similar treatment to the car’s bootless cousin – the Punto. Caught on test in India for the first time wearing heavy camouflage, the 2014 Punto will be out later this year.
Test mules of this upcoming model were spied in Pune, near Fiat India’s Ranjangaon production facility. Like in the new Linea, the upgrades in the 2014 Punto will mainly come in the form of redesigned exteriors and updated interiors. Speaking of which, expect the new Punto to feature a redesigned front-end and rear end consisting of new design for bumpers and revised headlights and tail lights. Inside, the cabin will sport a new dashboard layout and better quality materials.
Under the hood, the 2014 Punto will be offered with the same set of petrol and diesel engine options. The car will be continued with the 1.3-litre Multijet diesel engine in two different state of tunes – 75PS and 90PS. As for the petrol version, the 2014 model will come powered by either a 1.2-litre engine producing 68bhp or the more powerful 1.4-lite unit with 90bhp.
Besides the 2014 Punto facelift, Fiat India is also expected to launch the production-spec version of the Avventura shown at the Auto Expo and the Punto Abarth hot hatch.
