There is a lot to look forward to at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show including the all-new Mercedes-Benz CLA, E-Class facelift, Honda concept, BMW Z4 facelift and many others. But the one that is bound to get the maximum attention is the all-new low-slung supercar from the wild wild west, the Chevrolet Corvette C7.
Chevy has teased the seventh generation Corvette a few times, there are also few leaked drawing and images giving away few details of the car. The new C7 is inspired from the 2009 Corvette Stingray Concept – more commonly known for its cameo as the Autobot Sideswipe in the Transformers movies. The new-age Corvette has also been put on a diet – it weighs under 1500kg with carbon fiber floor, hydroformed-aluminium main member and magnesium cross-member.
As expected it will be powered by a V8, churning out around 450bhp and over 600Nm of torque. The go-green bug has bitten the Chevy as well and their cylinder deactivation technology helps in reaching efficiency figure of 11kpl – when driven gently. The C7 will be available with seven-speed automatic from Aisin AW, but if someone wants a manual for the American car then they have an option of ordering the six-speed from Transmission technologies
The company has closely guarded the final details of car that is expected to be the show stopper at the Detroit. Stay tuned from more details and images from the Detroit show, beginning January 13.
