BMW has confirmed that it will launch the 2014 Z4 roadster for the Indian market at a function in Pune on November 14. It was unveiled for the global markets in December last year and gets a host of cosmetic changes as well as a new 2.0-litre four cylinder petrol engine.
The 2014 BMW Z4 gets a new fascia in the form of LED headlights, revised bumper and a new BMW grille which made its debut last year. The car also gets sharper lines on the side as well as new design for the alloy wheels.
The interiors remain pretty much the same as the outgoing car but now there are gloss surrounds for the central AC vents and an optional folding central display for the iDrive system. New interior trims include an anthracite wood finish and what the company calls ‘Kansas’ leather trim, all part of the German Automaker’s Hyper Orange package.
In terms of the engines, the 2014 Z4 gets a new base turbocharged four-cylinder 2.0-litre petrol engine which produces 154bhp and 204Nm of torque and will power the base Z4 SDrive18i. However, we in India will get only one variant of the Z4, the SDrive35i, which is powered by a six-cylinder 3.0-litre petrol mill that produces 301bhp and 400Nm of torque. The current car is mated to a six-speed AT box while the 2014 model will be offered the ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox. BMW is likely to price the 2014 Z4 for Rs 70 lakh and it will be brought into India via the CBU route.
