Isuzu Motors displayed the MU-7 along with the extended version of the D-Max cab today. This Japanese SUV maker has recently been in the news for the efforts is making to a gain a proper foothold in the country.
The MU-7, a spacious seven-seater, is its offering in the SUV segment. The SUV is powered by four cylinder 2,999cc intercooled VGS Turbo Diesel engine producing power of 160.7bhp at 3,600rpm and torque of 360Nm at 1,800-2,800rpm. It is priced at Rs 23. 75 lakh (ex-showroom Hyderabad).
In terms of safety it comes with dual airbags, ABS with EBD. It gets a 5-speed manual transmission, rear-wheel-drive and comes in three exciting colours.
Along with the unveiling of the D-MAX Space cab, Isuzu Motors also showcased the D-MAX Single Cab, India’s First Global Pickup which was launched in India in 2013 as a CBU imported from Thailand, and has now been customised for the Indian market.
The company, at present, has in its Indian line-up, the D-Max pickup and the MU-7 SUV. Isuzu has recently commenced local production of its models in India. The Indian manufacturer Hindustan Motors will assemble Isuzu MU-7 SUV and the Isuzu D-Max pick-up at its Thiruvallur plant in Chennai from CKD kits which will be sourced from Thailand. However, the Tokyo-based company had acquired 107 acres of land in 2013 after signing an MoU with the Andhra Pradesh state government, with the aim of setting up a manufacturing facility. Operations at the new facility are likely to begin from early 2016.
