German luxury carmaker Audi is readying a minor facelift for its popular compact city car called the A1. The brand has even started running tests for this upgraded model as one of the prototypes has been spied during cold weather testing in Sweden.
Design wise, we do not expect any drastic changes in the looks department, although the facelifted A1 is expected to take inspiration from the bigger A3 and the S1 unveiled at this year's Geneva Motor Show.
Besides the subtly redesigned exteriors, expect the new A1 to feature an updated interior with better trim and upholstery across the variant lineup. Under the hood, the new A1 will probably continue to be powered by the existing set of engine and drive-train options albeit retuned to offer more fuel economy and driveability.
Audi is likely to unveil the new A1 facelift at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in October this year, followed by an early 2015 launch. When launched, the brand will pit it against the all-new Mini hatchback and the Citroen DS3. Audi India, meanwhile, is working on bringing its entry-level A3 sedan to India. A launch-ready version of the car has been spotted on test on a number of occasions, meaning an official announcement could be imminent.
