Aston Martin has comprehensively updated the four-door sedan, the Rapide, with an ‘S’, along with additional 80bhp. The 2014 Rapide S will go on sale in Europe next month and will eventually replace the current model in the worldwide markets.
With the power ratings of 550bhp and 840Nm, the new Rapide S is more of four-door supercar than a laidback GT. The car is lowered by 19mm improving the handling, naught to 100kph speed has dropped to under five seconds and the top-speed is now well over 300kph. Not that the buyers will really care, but even the fuel efficiency has improved and the CO2 emissions have dropped a notch.he blokes at Aston martin have not fiddled around too much with the looks, which is the main selling point of the Rapide.
The S version only has a marginally altered front grille and a rear lip spoiler. There is also a Carbonfibre Exterior pack on offer that has exterior fitments like rear diffuser, mirror housing and front splitter made with weaved material. The interiors have not been altered either apart from new Piano Black trim and optional ‘Duotone’ red and black upholstery.
The prices for the new Aston Martine Rapide have not been revealed as yet, but they are expected to be around USD 2,00,000 (Rs 1.07 Crore before taxes). The new V12 will also be available in India post launch as CBU on order.
