The Tokyo Motor Show is where Honda is displaying the recently launched Jazz/Fit. The car is expected in India at the 2014 Auto Expo in February and will be seen sharing the dais with another one of Honda’s products, namely, the Mobilio. The 2014 Jazz for India will be powered by the 1.2-litre i-VTEC engine and also the 1.5-litre diesel engine.
Jazz, the premium and large hatchback from Honda is expected to make a comeback in India apparently with a longer base making it even more comfortable for the passengers. The comfort in handling will be courtesy the new platform on which it is based. Lighter and more rigid, it will be a bit more aerodynamic as well. Also due to the newly developed suspension, as Honda claims, there will be lag-free body roll and a comfortable ride with minimum vibration.
Sources revealed to IAB that the car will be powered by the engines on found in the likes of Honda Brio and Amaze available in India. The orange Jazz seen in the pictures which is the RS version with full body kit is powered by the 1.5-litre DOHC engine mated to a six-speed transmission. The petrol version of the Jazz for India will borrow its 1.2-litre petrol engine from the Brio and Amaze to deliver a power output of 88bhp. Similarly the diesel variant of the Jazz in India will acquire the Amaze’s diesel engine churning out 100bhp. Safety features on the new Jazz include VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist), HSA (Hill-Start Assist) and the Emergency Stop Signal (ESS).
The Jazz when launched in India would be placed below the Amaze sedan and will compete with the Volkswagen Polo and the Hyundai i20. The petrol variant is expected to be priced from Rs 4.7 lakh and the diesel from Rs 6.7 lakh onwards, all prices being ex-showroom New Delhi.
