The 2013 Skoda Octavia has been spied testing by the team at Motorbash. While that is not something new as we have had four different sets of spy shots from three different locations in less than two months, what is new is the fact that this car has been spied with a seven-speed DSG gearbox.
The test car has no visible form of variant badging leading us to believe this could either be the 2.0-litre diesel with a seven-speed DSG (The Laura in the same spec is offered with a six-speed automatic) or the 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol with the same gearbox.
While the 2.0-litre diesel produces 138bhp+320Nm of torque, the latter produces 158bhp and 250Nm of torque. The seven-speed DSG is also being offered with the Polo GT that is due to be launched today. Since the engine line up is expected to be similar to the current car (with technological improvements obviously) we believe that these gearboxes will offered with the car when it is launched.
This is the third generation of the sedan and unveiled for the global markets in October last year. The all-new Octavia will be launched in India later this year. The 2013 Skoda Octavia is based on its parent company Volkswagen’s MQB platform and shares many of its components with the recently launched Audi A3, Mk7 Volkswagen Golf and Seat Leon. The design cues of the sedan are however based on the Czech automaker’s Vision D concept. There will also be a sporty version called the Octavia vRS that will make its debut at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed in July.
