An un-camouflaged 2013 Skoda Octavia has been spied testing by the crew at PowerDrift. This is the third generation of the sedan and unveiled for the global markets in October last year. The all-new Octavia will be launched in India later this year and has already been spied testing in Mumbai and Bengaluru.
The 2013 Skoda Octavia is based on its parent company Volkswagen’s MQB platform and shares many of its components with the recently launched Audi A3, Mk7 Volkswagen Golf and Seat Leon. The design cues of the sedan are however based on the Czech automaker’s Vision D concept.
Skoda will be offering this new model with choice of four petrol and four diesel engines. The petrol range includes 1.4TSI in two states of tune – 120bhp and 138bhp. The bigger units include the 1.8TSI pumping 177bhp and 2.0-litre TSI for the vRS version, though we believe that this mill is unlikley to come to Indian market. The diesel options are 1.6-litre TDI developing either 103bhp or 108bhp, along with 2.0-litre TDI available in 147bhp and 181bhp guise.
The 2013 Octavia is expected to replace the D-segment sedan Laura to compete with the likes of Chevy Cruze, Renault Fluence, VW Jetta, Hyundai Elantra and Toyota Altis. It will also debut the Czech automaker’s new design philosophy as well as its new logo in the Indian market.
