Lamborghini has unveiled a special edition of its flagship supercar called the Aventador LP 720-4 50th Anniversario special edition. As the name suggests, the car has been created to celebrate the Italian automakers 50th anniversary and is the second car launched to commemorate the occasion. Lamborghini has previously unveiled the Aventador based Veneno at the Geneva Motor Show.
The car has been painted in a combination of yellow and black and will be powered by a tweaked version of the Aventador’s 6.5-litre V12 mill that has now been tuned to produce 720PS and equally large amount of torque. It uses the same seven-speed semi-automatic gearbox and Haldex 4WD system to transmit power to all four wheels. The car now does 0-100kmph in 2.9 seconds and will go on to hit a top speed of 350kmph.
The front and rear fascias of the special edition have been redesigned and the aerodynamics further optimised. The front air intakes and the aerodynamic splitter have been enlarged and extended, and small flaps set into the sides. The rear end is completely new and features an enlarged diffuser and expansive meshwork that further improves engine-compartment ventilation.
The car has been painted in a special shade, Giallo Maggio (May yellow). It is a tribute to the most preferred colour chosen by Lamborghini costumers since the Miura. The all-new colour will only be available on this edition. The interiors are pretty much the same as the standard Lamborghini Aventador but have now been trimmed with yellow and black leather that has been developed specially for this car.
Lamborghini has said that it will make 100 units of the car and each one will have a special serial number as well as a 50th anniversary edition badge.
