Ford has unveiled the all new Mondeo for China at the ongoing 2013 Shanghai Auto Show. The Mondeo also debuts the new 1.5-litre version of the EcoBoost engine that will feature in many of the Ford’s global models.
The American carmaker is yet to divulge power specs of the new turbocharged engine, but they are expected to be around 180bhp of power and 240Nm of torque. Built of Ford’s global CD4 platform, the new premium sedan features the Ford Lane-Keeping System, adaptive cruise control, rear inflatable seat belts.
Ford is claiming to have the best-in-class fuel economy with this engine but we will get the actual figures when the Ford Fusion is launched in US in 2014. The car is also the first Ford to get the headlamps with LED high-beam, low-beam and signal lighting.
Ford India has pledged to launch 8 new cars by 2015 and new Mondeo is expected to be a part of the lineup. The sedan is expected to be launched in India next year to compete in the D-Segment with new Skoda octavioa, Toyota Altis, Hyundai Elantra and others.
