The 2013 Range Rover that was unveiled to the global motoring press at the 2012 Paris Motor Show will make its India debut on November 30. The new beast from JLR looks pretty similar to the outgoing model as most of the changes apart from new headlamps and wheels are mechanical.
The 2013 model has undergone a massive weight loss programme with JLR using an aluminium unibody construction for the chassis from the previous ladder frame/monocoque design. This has reduced the weight of the Range Rover by almost 450 kilos as well as improved the handling.
The engine options being offered for the SUV remain the same – 3.6-litre diesel and a 4.2-litre diesel, but with a higher output and increased torque figures. Power will now be transmitted to the wheels via and eight-speed ZF transmission and this will be standard across the range.
Inside, the new SUV will be fitted with the upgraded Terrain Response 2 system as well as a 29-speaker system. However, the biggest change is increase in rear leg room and the option of getting two-place rear seat arrangement instead of a bench in the second row.
We expect that prices for the 2013 Range Rover will be in the region of Rs 1.07 Crore to Rs 1.10 Crore. Stay tuned to CarWale for all details from the launch.
