The XKR-S is not a slouch by any standard – the 550bhp V8 super car is a capable machine. But that is not enough to make Jag’s ETO division happy; so they have now tinkered around with the bits and pieces to make it quicker and even more mental. This is the 2014 XKR-S GT, built mainly to go around a racing circuit, but with features that will allow you drive it on the road.
The engine has not been touched and power figures remain unchanged at 550bhp and 680Nm. The performance has been extracted by tweaking everything that matters on the race track – aerodynamics, suspension, tyres and more. Carbon fibre is used extensively to reduce weight and enhance the aero package with redesigned front spitter, dive planes and extended wheel spats. The rear spoiler is bigger than ever before, the rear diffuser is also new along with aluminium under tray for maximum down force.
The other changes include height-adjustable adaptive dampers, active exhaust, carbon-ceramic brakes and super sticky Pirelli Corsa tyres. All these upgrades don’t come cheap and this leaping cat costs USD 1,74,000 – that is Rs 94.5 lakh before taxes. This is a limited model and Jaguar has restricted the number to just 30 units; and all of those will be made available only on the west of Atlantic.
