The Mercedes GL-Class is an imposing machine, but one could hardly call it good-looking. A mid-life facelift has done it much good, however, and it now has the LED running lamps that are similar to the design on the new SLK and SL. The new design has also imparted a lot of creases in the sheet metal that not only hides its bulk but also imparts a very AMG-like aggression to its look.
No official engine updates have been revealed (they will be public tomorrow) but you can expect them to be cleaner and more powerful than the current range. The 3.0-litre diesel V6 will be retained, of course, and we can also expect international markets to get a version powered by the twin-turbo 4.6-litre petrol V8. All-wheel drive will be present, as always, with the option for it to be specced up to proper off-road vehicle requirements.
