The 2013 Honda CR-V has been spied at a dealership by our friends at Indianautosblog. This model will launched in India soon and is already available in the right-hand-drive UK market since November with minor cosmetic changes to both the inside and outside.
The SUV that was snapped up is the top-of-the-line variant that has all trappings of the current CR-V with one little surprise, four-wheel drive. The major change is to the front of vehicle which features a revised design. It has become shorter and lower than the 2012 model but due to better packaging the interior space has improved along with a 147-litre increase in boot space. Honda has also tweaked the aerodynamics and given the CR-V a flat underbody.
The 2013 CR-V is likely to be offered with the same set of engines as its predecessor, a 2.0-litre petrol mill producing 140bhp and 190Nm of torque and a 2.4-litre petrol producing 158bhp and 218Nm of torque both in the automatic and manual variants. Power will now be transmitted to two wheels/4 wheels via a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic.
The CR-V abroad is also offered with a 2.2-litre i-DTEC diesel engine which produces 150bhp, however, this variant will not be introduced here as it is built only in the UK and would be too expensive to import. The Japanese automaker has also said that the CR-V does not sell in enough number to justify the introduction of diesel version in the Indian market.
Honda recently updated its website to include information on the updated SUV and this means that its speculated launch date of February 12 is likely to be true.
