After more than a dozen teasers in the last few months, Rolls Royce has finally revealed their new model, the Wraith. This is the new Bentley Continental GT competitor and also the most powerful Rolls Royce ever built.
With the V12 engine pumping 624bhp and 800Nm, the Wraith manages zero to hundred in 4.4 seconds. It uses the standard eight-speed ZF gearbox, but with a unique Satellite Aided Transmission technology; this system works with GPS to pre-select gears for the road ahead. The coupe’s suspension is tuned for firm and sporty ride, with minimal body roll; the steering is also set to provide better feedback by varying weights depending on speeds.
Rolls Royce uses “on-board valet”, voice command system for both sat-nav and infotainment system. For the more conventional user the Spirit of Ecstasy Rotary Controller uses touchpad with pinch and pull gestures that mimic smartphone interface.
At USD 2,45,000 this two-door Rolls Royce is almost USD 100K more than the most expensive Bentley Continental GT Speed coupe. Even at this price, the Wraith is certain to find buyers in America, Europe and Middle-East, but the Chinese will probably not accept the driver focused car. We expect Rolls Royce India to make announcement later this year, when the deliveries for this model commences.
