Alfa Romeo has revealed the prices, specs and engine details of the new 4C with a special launch edition at the ongoing Geneva Motor Show. Only 1,000 examples of the stunning looking tiny rear-drive two-seater sports car are on sale – mainly in Europe.
The 4C is small and light weight. The face is unmistakably of an Alfa, with the vertical grille and mesh inserts around the fog lamp console. The race car nose and the extended ORVMs add to the “sports car” aura, but the headlamps play bit of a spoilsport. Nothing is wrong with them, just that we think they look a bit too gentle for the overall design. The tail is the well sorted and looks exquisite.
The engine is the same 1.75-litre turbocharged four-cylinder from the Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde, but with additional 5bhp, taking the total output to 238bhp. The naught to 100kph time is under 4.5 seconds and the unrestricted top-speed is over 250kph. The Alfa’s DNA switch offers different driving modes – Dynamic, Natural and All-Weather, along with new improved race mode that also displays a swanky G-meter on the center console.
The launch edition is priced at Euro 60,000 (approx. Rs 43 lakh) and is available in two colours – Bainco Carrara and Alfa Red, with former being limited to the launch edition. We still don’t know what are the other exclusive bits about this edition as the standard Alfa 4C is still to debut.
