Lamborghini stable featured a number of exquisite machinery, of which the Squadra Corse version of the Gallardo was one that caught many eyes. Based on the Gallardo Superleggera, this baby Lambo is named after their new motorsports department.
The Squadra Corse though is much more than the Superleggera; for starters it’s in essence a legalised version of the LP 570-4 Super Trofeo single-series race car. Race car inspirations include a prominent rear wing, a quick-release engine cover and carbon ceramic brakes. The Squadra Corse inherits the 578PS-V10 engine from the race car, powering it from 0-100kph in 3.4 seconds while completing the run to 200kph in 10.4 seconds.
Weight reduction has been under serious consideration, as the Squadra Corse strips down to bare necessities and excessive use of carbon fibre and Alcantara leather. The weight loss programme has helped the car lose a healthy 70kg over the standard Gallardo and now weighs 1340kg.
The Squadra Corse may possibly be the last of the Gallardos before its successor is announced soon. But, if you consider the Aventador as Batman material, then the limited edition Gallardo is definitely the one worthy of being its sidekick for Robin, until we see the replacement that is.
