Bentley has announced sports variants of the Continental GT and the GTC V8 and will unveil them at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. The V8 versions of the Continental GT were launched at the beginning of last year and will continue to be sold alongside the S variants.
The 4.0-litre twin turbocharged V8 engine sourced from Audi will produce 528PS power and 680Nm of torque, a 20 unit hike on power and torque from the standard model. The figures enable the coupe to hit 100kph in 4.5sec and the convertible 0.2sec more both peaking at 308kph.
Apart from the engine upgrades, the S versions gets 45 per cent stiffer suspensions while riding 10mm lower than the standard spec model. Visually, the car distinguishes itself by the blackened front grille and a new set of 20-inch alloy wheels apart from the S badging.
There is definitely going to be a steep price hike for the S variant, but how much is still a mystery, and same is the case with its delivery dates. The rumbling exhaust and the added power to the 2.2-tonne monster should definitely justify the price hike, not that it is much of a concern for its possible buyers.
