Audi has pulled the covers off the new 2013 Audi RS5 Cabriolet, which will be launched in Europe at the start of next year. There are certain design changes to the soft-top convertible that are incorporated into the RS5 coupe as a mid-life facelift.
The RS5 Cabriolet is powered by the same 4.2-litre FSI V8 from the hardtop version, mated to seven-speed S-Tronic gearbox powering all four wheels. The car is capable of going from naught to 100kph in 4.9 seconds, and like most other Audis the top speed is electronically limited to 250kph. The fabric top opens in 15 seconds and takes 17 seconds to close, more importantly it makes the sports exhaust (available as option) sound even louder to the occupants. The typical Audi RS badging is also in place, as are 19-inch alloy wheels, red cylinder heads that echo the Ferrari Testarossas and a carbon-fiber intake manifold.
Audi has sold a few RS5s in India in the recent past – via CBU route, and the company may offer the convertible here (on order), once deliveries begin in Europe.
