Audi India has launched the 2013 RS 5 performance coupe for Rs 96.81 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The car, a sportier version of the A5 sedan, was unveiled at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show and will replace the current RS5 that has been on sale in the Indian market since 2011. It was unveiled by Aditya Patel, Audi racecar driver in the presence of Michael Perschke, head of Audi India at a function in Mumbai.
The 2013 Audi RS 5 is powered by a 4.2-litre V8 petrol mill that produces 456.3 PS and 430Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to all four wheels via a seven-speed automatic gearbox and the German automaker’s patented quattro four-wheel drive system.
The 2013 RS5 gets upgraded dampers and springs on the suspension front and also has improved quick throttle response. The vehicle also has a lowered ride height in order to reduce body roll. The RS5 also gives way for a new electric power-steering (EPS) setup that replaces the engine-driven hydraulic assist. Audi has also fitted the RS 5 with its recuperation system fuel saving technologies.
Cosmetic changes RS5 include a retractable rear spoiler exclusive to this model and a blacked-out trapezoidal grille with matching lower intakes. Under the hood, the RS5 distinguishes itself with red cam covers and a carbon-fibre intake manifold. The optional list for the variant includes piano black trim, 20-inch graphite-coloured wheels and a sport exhaust system with black finishers.
During the launch Audi India also announced that it will be opening new showrooms in Udaipur, Karnal and Delhi Central.
