Porsche has unveiled the 2013 Carrera 4 at the Paris Motor Show. The most notable revisions to the car is the wider rear section that goes well with the new wider rear tyres. The changes allow the new 911 Carrera to sit closer to the ground, allowing even better stability and control.
As the name suggests, the 2013 Carrera 4 is an all-wheel-drive with rear-focused layout that when coupled with the Porsche Traction Management system offer more grip and an exciting driving experience. The new Carrera will be available in four variants; as the 911 Carrera 4 and 911 Carrera 4S and each as Coupe and Cabriolet.
While the newer models have switched to four-wheel-drive, they will retain all the fitting and creature comforts that Porsche offer across its range including an optional sliding glass sunroof for the Coupe models.
Both models will be powered a 3.8-litre rear mounted boxer engine which produces 350bhp in the Carrera 4 and 400bhp in the Carrera 4S pushing the cars to a top speed of 285 kmph and 299 kmph respectively. A seven-speed manual transmission is a standard fitting on the range. However, the cars can also be ordered with the 7-speed PDK(Porsche Doppelkupplung) gearbox system.
The new 911 models will launch at the end of 2012. Prices in Germany are 97,557 Euros (Rs 66.30 lakh) for the 911 Carrera 4 Coupe and 110,290 Euros (Rs 74.95 lakh) for the Cabriolet. The 911 Carrera 4 S costs 112,313 Euros (Rs 76.32 lakh)while the Cabrioletcosts125,046 Euros (Rs 84.98 lakh).
