The Mitsubishi Outlander has never lacked in any department in the real sense. It looks good, has excellent driving manners, a very comfortable, classy interior and a cracking audio system that can rub shoulders with some of the boutique systems in much more expensive machinery. Mitsubishi, wisely, hasn't changed any of this.
This means that you still get 170PS and 226Nm coupled to the 710-Watt Rockford-Fosgate system. You still get the snazzy black leather upholstery, HID headlamps and safety in the form of HID headlamps with adaptive lighting, ABS, EBD and dual airbags at the front.
What the Outlander hasn't had so far is a third row, which detracted from its 'SUV' feel. This makes it only the third monocoque SUV in the price range with a third row, the other two being the Hyundai Santa Fe and the Chevrolet Captiva. If you've got a couple of small children and require comfort more than ruggedness, the Outlander should be high on your list of cars to see.
The 2012 Outlander retails at Rs 20.55 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
