Yesterday we reported about BMW’s new campaign on Facebook to create a buzz around the new 3-Series, which will be launched in India soon. We were certain that the launch of the new 3-Series was around the corner, but exact details were not available. BMW has now disclosed the launch date - 27 July, for all those eagerly waiting for the new 3-Series. BMW has also started a campaign called the ‘Ultimate3’, wherein the new 3-Series will be displayed at various malls in all the metro cities. Along with above, the German car maker’s Facebook page is also hosting a competition and the winner will be invited to the launch of the new car.
There are rumours that only the diesel version of the new 3-Series will be made available at the start, while the petrol models will be offered by the end of this year. In India the diesel version will be powered by 2.0-litre 4-cylinder mill producing 184bhp and chunky 380 Nm of torque. The 3-Series will be available with existing six-speed auto transmission or the eight-speed version from the 5-Series depending upon variants. This car will be brought to India as CKD and will be assembled BMW’s Chennai facility.
