We have some exclusive images of the soon to be launched Mahindra TUV300. The compact SUV will be launched on September 10 and will take on the Ford EcoSport in the sub-four metre segment.
Mahindra TUV300 has a rather boxy design, but looks modern with the chrome-laden front grille with vertical slats and angular headlamps. The front bumper houses massive rectangular airdam and is flanked by equally boxy fog lamps.
The side profile looks too basic for a modern SUV; even the tyres look small for the size of the car, sitting on the 10-spoke alloy-wheels. The blacked-out B-pillar and the black roof rails are the only other noticeable aspects from this angle. The rear profile reminds us of the Quanto with the black pillar and vertical tail lamp unit. The spare wheel is mounted on the rear door to add some bulk to the car.
The rear profile also shows the auto badge, which confirms our claims that the TUV300 will be launched with the six-speed AMT transmission. We suspect that the manual will also be a six-speed gearbox and both the units be powered by the mHawk 80 series 1.5-litre diesel engine from the Quanto producing 100bhp and 240Nm of torque.
Our sources confirm that the AMT will be offered only in the mid-level variant and the top-end will be a manual priced at around Rs 10.5 lakh.
