Alfa Romeo has officially taken the wraps of the new Giulia sedan. Called Giulia Quadrifoglio, this car is the top-end version of the new sedan which will rival the likes of BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Audi A4 and the Jaguar XE.
The Alfa Romeo Giulia gets definitive Italian styling which carries influences of the original Giulietta Sprint of the 1950s. It gets an aggressive fascia along with the rounded angles for the rear section, creating a 'teardrop-shaped' profile. Alfa Romeo has made extensive use of carbon fibre and aluminium to keep the weight at bay. The Quadrifoglio is the performance-focussed variant of the Giulia, which houses a 503bhp V6 engine under the bonnet. Developed in association with Ferrari, this 3.0-litre twin-turbo powertrain sends power to the rear wheels and can propel the Giulia Quadrifoglio from 0 to 100kmph in a mind-boggling 3.9 seconds.
Alfa Romeo has claimed a perfect 50:50 front-rear weight distribution for the car, which coupled with the sophisticated all-aluminium suspension setup should make the Giulia one sweet handler. Carbon ceramic brakes will be offered as an optional extra.
The new Alfa Romeo Giulia will be one of the first production models to adorn the Italian marque’s new badge. Besides the V6 engine, the Giulia will also be available with a host of four-pot engines. The Giulia will make its maiden public appearance at an event in Milan, Italy, in the next few hours. Deliveries of the car in the UK is expected to commence in September, this year.
