Ailaa! Yes, you have read it right! The Master Blaster will succeed the free-speaking giant on what is considered one of the world’s best motoring shows. This puts to an end to the controversy that began with a slap over an unserved dinner and put a large and talented editorial team’s job at ‘steak’.
An avid car enthusiast and skilled driver, Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar will join the show from the 23rd series onwards. This is expected to be his second major conquest after setting ablaze the cricket world in a career spanning over 16 years where his records are expected to remain unmatched practically forever. The move seemed pretty obvious given that after Clarkson, the most popular name in the UK is Sachin Tendulkar!
With global majors going to India for the supposed growth story Narendra Modi wants to sell, the BBC is looking forward to expand its viewer base by at least a billion people with Maria Sharapova also joining the count!
Producer Andy Wilman, has told us that there will be some sweeping changes to the show in the wake of Tendlya signing up. For starters they may just rename the show to Medium Gear, to ensure the name matches the average height of the presenters who are expected to join Sachin. However, at the time of writing this story we got word that our very own Ten Hut of PowerDrift fame has also got the call to replace James May. The slot for ‘Rural Boy’ Richard Hammond is still open though we have heard through the grapevine that Kamaal R Khan is trying his best for the slot.
The Stig, who is the other major attraction of the show is now expected to have a lot more Desi appeal and will now sport a specially designed Blue colour Alpine Star Pyjamas with knee pads and elbow guards. Some say that he will perform the customary squat and scratch before entering a car and that he will have the number 10 written across the car and all we know is that he will be called Stigbhai in the future.
The rest of the details are still sketchy and we will get them to you as soon as they emerge, so stay tuned to CarWale.
Disclaimer: If you have figured out by now, this is a joke and meant to tickle your funny bone on April Fools day. Top Gear is still in a limbo with all three presenters quitting the show and we really hope it will be back on air one way or another. If the show is not meant to be, then we hope at least the presenters make their way back on the big screen together to entertain us with their antics and great chemistry that they have shared for so many years.
We also mean no offence to Sachin Tendulkar. He is one of India’s greatest cricket players and an idol to millions who have followed his exploits for so many years now (our team included). That is not to say that we would not be excited if he did start a car show for the masses.
We also mean no offence to any other names that we have taken up in the story and hope that they see this piece in a lighter vein.
Happy laughs and much smiles!
