A new, previously unseen, compact SUV from Maruti Suzuki has been spotted testing for the first time ever. This follows hot on the heels of the YRA premium hatchback that has already been spotted testing on multiple occasions over the last few months.
The pictures reveal a sub-four metre design which looks to be based on Iv-4 concept which, we already know in production form, will be the next generation of Suzuki’s famous Vitara SUV. The overall design has been retained but the grille, which appears to be simpler. There is likely to be a tail gate mounted wheel but it has not been fitted on this test model.
There is a sharp raking for the C-pillar which by the look of it has been blacked out to give the appearance of a floating roofline. The interior , in typical Maruti Suzuki, will be a mix and match from its large parts bin while the engines too are expected to come from existing models in a bid to keep costs down.
This compact SUV will be Suzuki’s entry into the compact crossover segment and more importantly for markets like India, rival the Ford EcoSport. This test vehicle appears to be close to production form which means it has been in testing for a while now.
