The Jeep Compass has made the right kind of noises for Jeep in India. But Jeep desires to make much more noise abroad and is now testing an export spec 1.6-litre diesel engined Compass which was recently spotted in Pune. It’s a part of the SUV’s larger engine range that is offered in various markets around the world.
In global spec, this engine produces 120bhp and can be had only with a six-speed manual. The production and testing of this vehicle indicates that Jeep has now started production of cars to export to various RHD markets from its plant in Ranjangaon. The test vehicle spotted in the photos was also equipped with an AWD system.
It is unlikely that this 1.6-litre variant will be launched in India anytime soon as the 2.0-litre diesel puts the Compass on par with its competition across a large price range.
