Honda CR-V facelift revealed ahead of probable Paris debut

The Honda CR-V facelift has been revealed ahead of its probable 2014 Paris Motor Show debut. The 2015 model year vehicle gets a new facia which by the looks of it is more aggressive than the outgoing model and is based on the Japanese automaker’s ‘Exciting H Design!!!’ philosophy. 

The facelifted CR-V gets a new bumper with integrated LED lights while the grille has now moved from being a four slat unit to a single one with the Honda logo in the centre. This is a move very similar to what the ‘Big H’ did with the City in India. 

Changes to the side profile include, new two-tone alloy wheels and indicators integrated into the OVRMs but otherwise the overall profile remains the same as the outgoing model. We expect that the CR-V to retain most of the interiors from the current car but get all the updates from the City.

On the engine front, it is expected to retain the 2.0-litre petrol and the 2.4-litre petrol four pot motors. They produce 154bhp/190Nm, 187/226Nm with only the former getting the option of a six-speed manual while the latter is offered with only six-speed AT and AWD system. 

On the diesel front, the European market gets the option of a 1.6-litre four-pot mill (Earth Dreams) as well as a 2.2-litre mill. They produce 118bhp/300Nm and 148bhp/349Nm with the options of a six-speed MT or AT.

The Indian market is expected to get this car by the middle of next year and it is expected to continue to be brought to India via the CKD route. Will we get the diesel? It is possible that Honda will bring the 2.2-litre diesel unit but only in AT guise.
