The Mahindra Scorpio facelift was kept under wraps for more than a year now. Despite the Scorpio facelift being rigorously tested in the country, we were never able to spot the revisions completely. Now, our reader Pradeep Bhor has sent us these pictures clearly showing all the changes the new Scorpio gets.
The 2014 version of the Scorpio in this picture seems to be a base variant as it loses out on the projector headlamps, chrome grille, fog lamps and alloy wheels. The top end variant will get projector headlamps with DRLs, new bumper with fog lamps, a chrome grille and newly designed alloy wheels.
The other picture of the car shows us the changes at the back which include LED tail lamps in the same housing as the one on the previous model. This time, however, the Christmas-tree arrangement is replaced by grab rails. The tailgate gets a new design with matte black paint around the registration plate. There are no changes to the rear bumper and spoiler, while the tailgate hinges are still visible.
There are no pictures of the interior yet but Mahindra has updated it in terms of both - layout and design. The company has worked majorly on improving the quality of upholstery in the upcoming car. The most evident change is the steering wheel borrowed from the XUV 500. The car sports a new dashboard and a stylish instrument cluster with silver accents with a small rectangular digital screen in between. The top-end should get dual airbags, ABS, touchscreen infotainment system, rain and light sensors, steering mounted audio and cruise controls, reverse parking assist and micro-hybrid technology.
There are no confirmations about the engine specifications from the company yet. Nevertheless, both, the 2.5-litre m2DiCr 75bhp engine and the 2.2-litre mHawk 120bhp motor are expected to be carried over. The SUV will be offered in five variants - S2, S4, S6, S8 and S10.
Mahindra will officially launch the new Scorpio on September 25 and that is when all the details will be out. But do you like the changes the company has made? Will this model be able to replicate the success of the previous model that sold in decent numbers? It is said that the company has already built an inventory of 5,000 units before the launch. We hope this will help the company in reducing the waiting period for prospective buyers of the new Scorpio if it still remains the preferred SUV for an Indian buyer.
