Mahindra will launch the new facelifted Scorpio by the end of this month and the bookings for the new vehicle have started today. Mahindra dealerships are accepting bookings for an amount of Rs 20,000.
The Scorpio facelift will get a new chrome grille with vertical slats and projector headlamps. The revisions to the fascia will include new headlights, grille, bumper and the bonnet scoop. The silhouette remains the same while the alloy wheels sport a new design. The rear will undergo minor changes like receiving new LED taillights while keeping the Christmas-tree arrangement the same.
The interior of the car will get a comprehensive makeover to its dashboard and instruments. The majority of improvements are basically to freshen up the crude appearance of the current cabin of the car. The old-school AC vents and centre console from the current car have been replaced with better ones while the car also gets a new instrument cluster with digital screen. The steering wheel is directly borrowed from the XUV500.
This facelifted Scorpio is expected to retain its 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that produces 120bhp of power and 290 Nm of torque. A five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox would do the transmission duty. There are changes to the chassis and the vehicle will get a new suspension.
The outgoing model of the Scorpio sells in decent numbers though it has not received any update since 2009. We hope the company will manage to cash in on the excitement presently created for the 2014 version when launched this month. It will go up against the Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano when introduced in the Indian market.
