Suzuki has released an official image of its upcoming crossover and has named it Vitara. The crossover might be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in October, 2014. The production model of the Vitara is based on the iV-4 concept first shown at the Frankfurt motor show in 2013.
The Vitara is essentially a replacement for the previous generation S-Cross as the new SX4 S-Cross has moved up a class in size to take on vehicles like the Nissan Qashqai in international markets. It is expected to sport a four-wheel-drive variant and is likely to be powered by a 1.6-litre petrol engine and the 1.6-litre MultiJet diesel engine.
Suzuki says the Vitara "will have a striking road presence with distinctive design." Buyers will have the option of personalising the car with different colours and trim customisation options.
The Vitara is based on a new platform which might underpin a slew of new models from the Suzuki stable. Details are scarce, but the car might be built at the firm's Hungarian plant.
The Vitarawill battle rivals such as the Nissan Juke, Vauxhall Mokka and Ford EcoSport in the international markets. However, the chances of the Vitara making it to India are bleak, as Maruti Suzuki braces itself to launch the SX4 S-Cross.
