The upcoming facelifted Hyundai i20, also called as the Grand i20, has been spotted testing in a disguised avatar again. The revised car is expected to get a minor makeover, setting it apart from the outgoing car.
As seen in these pictures sent by our reader Arpit Bond, the facelifted i20 sports a new design on the alloy wheels and revised taillamps. Though these pictures do not give us an idea of the modifications done to the fascia, but from the spyshots seen earlier we know that the car will get new swept-back headlamps as well. A wide and compact air intake with mesh design will be seen in the front with slight changes to the grille. From the side profile, the ground clearance seems to have been increased and the tyres may be larger in size.
To keep up with the new competitiors in the B+ segment of cars in India, Hyundai will revamp the interiors of the latest i20 as well. With a slightly revised instrument panel, the vehicle will be equipped with climate control, 2-DIN music system with all the connectivity options and steering-mounted audio controls. Apart from the current grey colour option for the interiors, the company might also introduce the beige colour option for Indian consumers.
The Hyundai i20 is expected to be powered by the same set of engines that power the current hatchback. This means the 1.2-litre petrol (83bhp/113Nm), 1.4-litre petrol (99bhp/136Nm) and the 1.4-litre diesel unit (89bhp/219.7Nm) will be carried over. Coming to the transmission options, there are three gearbox options with the petrol being offered with a five-speed manual/four-speed AT while the oil-burner gets a six-speed manual.
The facelifted Hyundai i20 is expected to go on sale by the end of this year or early next year. It will be priced around the same range of the current car and go up against the facelifted Volkswagen Polo, the new Fiat Punto and the upcoming Honda Jazz.
