Honda's new upcoming MPV, the Mobilio, was spied without camouflage in India. This is the first appearance of the vehicle on the Indian streets. The company recently started the production of the Mobilio in India and the MPV might be launched in July this year.
The car, seen in the pictures, is the diesel trim, top-end V variant. Basically an extended version of the Amaze, the Honda Mobilio measures 4.38 metres in length, 1.6 metres in width and 1.6 metres in height. The MPV has a wheelbase of 2.60 metres. While the vehicle gets the same front grille as the Amaze, the headlights as well as the shape of the bonnet has been carried over from the compact sedan. The changes at the back are evident with the wrap-around tail lamps and a trapezoid-shaped number plate slot at the rear. The top of the line trim of the vehicle will boast of a roof mounted spoiler and reflectors at the base of the door.
The cabin is similar to its other siblings, the Amaze and the Brio. Inside, the beige upholstery, centre console with 2-DIN touch screen music system without the CD player and rotating knobs for AC controls and circular AC vents are directly carried over from the sedan and the hatchback.
This V variant is the diesel version of the Mobilio and this i-DTEC is powered by the 1.5-itre Earth Dreams diesel engine used in the Honda Amaze diesel car. The petrol version is powered by the same 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine which is currently powering the Honda City. This mill that produces 117bhp of power and 146Nm of torque is mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
The Honda Mobilio will be available in three variants – S, E and V. The car was previously displayed at the Indonesia Motor Show in September 2013 and later was showcased at the Auto Expo 2014 in February. We expect the Mobilio to create a lot of excitement when launched in July. It will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy, Ashok Leyland Stile, Nissan Evalia and the upcoming Datsun GO+ from the MPV segment of cars.
