The Formula 1 circus has returned to the main land for the start of the European rounds which has begun with the Spanish Grand Prix. Clearly displaying their domination of the season so far Mercedes-AMG Petronas once again managed to top both the practice session with Lewis Hamilton sitting on top of the leader board the entire day.
The first practice session saw Hamilton top the time sheets ahead of Jenson Button and a resurgent Daniel Ricciardo of Infiniti Red Bull. Behind the top three Fernando Alonso managed to haul his Ferrari to fourth place ahead of Nico Rosberg and team mate Kimi Raikkonnen with former having been less than fortunate in the last four races.
Kevin Magnussen hauled the second Mclaren to seventh place ahead of Pastor Maldonado and Sergio Perez in the Force India. His team mate Nico Hulkenberg to put the sister car in 12th place. Rounding up the top ten was Felipe Massa in the Williams Mercedes.
In the second session, Lewis Hamilton once again topped the second time session ahead of his team mate Nico Rosberg. Daniel Ricciardo slotted himself into third place in the time sheet while team mate and four time world champion Sebastian Vettel who came 20th in the first session did not even participate in the second session.
Behind the top three it seemed to be a session of team mates trailing each other as the Ferrari duo of Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonnen took fourth and fifth place while the McLaren duo of Jenson Button and Kevin Magnussen took sixth and seventh place respectively. Rounding up the top ten were Felipe Massa, Pastor Maldonado and Danni Kvyat in the Toro Rosso. The Force India’s of Nico Hulkenberg and Sergio Perez took 11th and 16th place respectively.
It looks like Mercedes AMG will dominate the race tomorrow and day after but with this being the Spanish GP, we can always expect some kind of magic from the Prince of Asturias-Fernando Alonso.
