Tata Safari Storme spied in Ooty

Tata's Safari Storme was recently spotted testing in the Nilgiris on the Ooty - Masinagudi Road. The test mule was completely camouflaged making us believe that the company might be updating the vehicle.

The Safari Storme, in a disguised avatar, hides most of the changes the manufacturer might have done. From the pictures it doesn’t seem that there are many major changes but the rear bumper might get a collapsible step which can be closed when not used. It would be a good change if the tailgate hinges, which  are visible in the current version, might be hidden this time.

Since the rear windows also have a camouflage, there might be changes to the interiors as well. The third row side facing seats might be replaced with front facing captain seats. A redesigned central console with a neatly integrated music system will make the interiors more appealing with a couple of new features thrown in.

The changes might not be limited to be just cosmetic ones and mechanically the power output might be increased. The current Tata Safari Storme is powered by the 2.2-litre VariCOR diesel mill that churns out 140bhp of power. This motor might be upgraded to churn out 150bhp of power and 320Nm of torque like in the Tata Aria.

These are the first pictures of the Tata Safari Storme being tested in India after it was launched in 2012. The carmaker might borrow some design traits from the 'Ladakh' concept of the Storme that was displayed at the Auto Expo in February this year.
