Volkswagen unveils 2015 Jetta with minor updates

The Jetta is among the most successful car models Volkswagen has made and sold so far, with over 14 million units shipped since the launch of the original model in the year 1979. Last year alone, the brand delivered 925,000 units worldwide. Now, at the upcoming New York Auto Show, Volkswagen is set to present the 2015 version with a few minor updates to rejuvenate the Jetta brand.

In addition to a few design revisions at the front and rear of the car, this 2015 model has been made more fuel efficient by reducing air drag and making use of new tyres that help improve rolling resistance. At the front, the 2015 model distinguishes itself from the earlier Jetta with its redesigned grille with three cross fins, optional Bi-Xenon headlights and a new bumper. As for the rear end, the boot lid, taillights and the bumper of the car have been updated for 2015.

Inside, not much has been changed. Volkswagen, however, has added new driver assistance systems such as blind spot detection, frontal collision warning and rear cross-traffic alert. Mechanically, the 2015 Jetta continues to offer three 4-cylinder petrol engines (a 2-litre naturally aspirated and 1.8-litre and 2-litre TSI turbocharged units). Furthermore, buyers can also choose from a 1.4-litre turbocharged hybrid version, and a new 2-litre TDI diesel engine.

Scheduled to make its debut at the 2014 New York Motor Auto Show, the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta eventually will hit the US market in the third quarter of 2014.
