Ford EcoSport’s waiting period might be reduced

Ford India launched the Ecosport, a compact SUV, which boosted the sales numbers for the manufacturer. The sporty looking, feature-loaded and aggressively priced vehicle became the talk of the town within no time. However, the demand for the car increased so much that the waiting period for the delivery of the car increased from three to six months.

Showing concern about the current situation, the company is looking for ways to increase the production of the car. They think that if a solution is not found out soon, out of irritation, prospective buyers might opt for other competitor cars.

The company has reportedly asked their vendor base to increase the supply of raw materials required for the production of the EcoSport. This in turn will help the company to ramp up the production of the car and produce more EcoSports. Currently, the manufacturer has received an order of 60,000 units out of which 40,000 units have been supplied.

Nigel Harris, President, Ford India, said, “Currently, the waiting time for the EcoSport is three-six months; we are identifying customers who are waiting for a long time and giving them priority. There is a pressure on materials all around the world. Also, the economic recession was at the peak when we launched the SUV that made us stay careful with volumes. We hope to catch up with the demand for Ecosport next year.”
