It’s been little over two months since BMW officially unveiled the all-new M4 coupe ahead of the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, and now the first production example has left the assembly line at the company’s factory in Munich, Germany.
To mark the occasion, the M4 – finished in Austin Yellow – was driven off the line by DTM racer Martin Tomczyk and BMW Munich Plant Managing Director, Mr. Hermann Bohrer.
Built to replace the brilliant three-door E92 M3, the new M4 is powered by a twin-turbo 3-litre six-cylinder engine. Producing 430bhp and 550Nm of torque, this new engine replaces the old naturally aspirated 4-litre V8 engine.
Thanks to the improved power output, the M4 can hit 100kmph from standstill in just 4.1 seconds and goes onto an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph. For those looking to go even quicker, BMW is also offering the M Driver’s Package which raises the top speed to nearly 280kmph.
The M4 is set to go on sale in the UK starting June this year. When launched, the car will go up against the upcoming Lexus RC F coupe. As for the India launch, BMW India may well be able to bring it here, given the ever rising demand in premium high-performance cars.
