The Datsun brand was revived after being dormant for three decades and the first product they showed to the world was the GO last year in New Delhi. Datsun kickstarted the production of GO at its Chennai facility recently and now the car is available for display at the company’s stall in the Auto Expo.
The GO is powered by a DOHC, VVT three-pot 1.2-litre engine producing 74bhp and 104Nm of torque. A five-speed gearbox transmits power to the front wheel.
The GO will also be sold in Russia, Brazil and Indonesia apart from India, the vehicle might also be exported to some of these destinations from India.
The snazzy looking Go is 3,785mm long, 1,635mm wide and 1,485m tall with a wheelbase of 2,450mm. It has decent space as the longer wheelbase adds to its versatility in space. The car is bigger than most of its competitors like the Maruti Alto 800, Alto K10, Chevrolet Spark and the Hyundai Eon, however it is identical to the Micra Active in dimensions as both cars share platforms.
