Tata’s official Falcon 5 (F5) page had a contest running to guess the name of the upcoming compact sedan. The source that bought us news about the Falcon 4 (F4), the company’s other expo star, the Falcon-4, being named ‘Bolt’ has revealed that the F5 will be named ‘Zest’.
There are more details, the car will get an Automated Manual Transmission and would be available as soon as the car is launched. The F5 will be available with Tata’s new range of petrol engines, the Revotron series, and the AMT transmission might as well be offered with the diesel. The petrol power might come from the 1.2-litre Revotron engine, whereas Fiat’s 1.3-litre MJD engine will power the diesel variants.
The car will be officially unveiled tomorrow and will be on display at the Auto Expo along with the Falcon 4 aka ‘Bolt’. The F5 will be a sub four-metre sedan and will look very different from the current Manza sedan. The sedan might be made available shortly after its unveiling.
The Falcon 5 will compete against the Honda Amaze, Maruti Dzire and the upcoming Hyundai i10 Grand based sedan. The addition of an AMT will be an advantage to Tata and very soon we might see this technology filter into other cars too.
