Mahindra Scorpio facelift and Bolero spotted testing

Mahindra’s facelifted Scorpio has been spied testing several times in different places in India. This time two test mules of the revamped car were sighted on NH8 near Surat in Gujarat. The test cars were accompanied by two other Boleros which were slightly camouflaged.

The Scorpio facelift has, as always, been under hiding and this time around, the heavily camouflaged vehicles didn’t reveal any additional details in any way. The updated Scorpio will get a new revised grille and refreshed headlamps. The front bumper will also have changes with new a design for the air intakes. At the rear, the Christmas tree arrangement for the tail lamps might stay but instead of the conventional multi-reflectors, LEDs might be integrated into them.

The Mahindra Boleros that were seen testing along with the Scorpio siblings, though not heavily camouflaged, have slight changes. The car might get a new front bumper, (disguised in the picture) with larger air dams. The wheels arches on the vehicle are larger than the ones seen on the outgoing vehicle. The rear bumper which is not very visible in the picture, might also be revised. 

Coming to the mechanical bits, another prototype was sighted on the roads with emission testing equipment, last year, adding to our belief that Mahindra is making more than just cosmetic changes to the car. The facelifted vehicle is expected to be powered by the same 2.2-litre mHawk turbo diesel engine delivering 120bhp of power. However speculations also suggest that the SUV may get the 140bhp motor from the XUV 500 with a six-speed-manual transmission.

The facelifted Mahindra Scorpio has been seen undergoing tests and with these regular sightings we can postulate that Mahindra has pushed its plans further for the launch of the upcoming car along with other vehicles like the Bolero and the forthcoming compact SUV, the S101. We hope Mahindra gives us a glimpse of these revamped cars at the 2014 Auto Expo scheduled for next month.
