Renault India has announced the prices of the new facelifted Koleos and for the first time, the line-up of the premium SUV will include a manual and a two-wheel-drive variant. While the previous car retailed for Rs 24 lakh, the base 2WD manual variant of the new range starts at Rs 22.3 lakh and goes up to Rs 26.18 lakh for the 4WD AT variant, all ex-showroom Delhi.
Based on the previous car’s platform, the new Koleos gets a few cosmetic changes. The car gets a new fascia and sports an updated smooth crossover like styling. The headlights remain same but there is a new bumper and a new glossy black grille with chrome inserts. A chrome strip runs along the sides and dual-tone wheels adorn the top-of-the-line variant. The rear remains mostly unchanged.
The 2WD variant of the Koleos carries over the previous car’s 2.0-litre M9R diesel engine which produces 148bhp and 320Nm of torque. It is available only with a six-speed manual gearbox. The other two 4WD variants are powered by an upgraded version of the same engine which produces 173bhp and 360Nm of torque.Renault claims a fuel efficiency figure of 17.15kmpl for the 2WD version, 16.26kmpl for the 4WD manual and 14.56kmpl for the 4WD Automatic.
Renault will launch the Koleos on February 5 at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. Despite its entry-level crossover and the Duster being a huge hit, Renault hasn’t tasted much success with its premium SUV. By introducing a new variant with a lower price, the French manufacturer hopes to grab attention of the customers in a segment which includes the Toyota Fortuner, Chevrolet Captiva and the Hyundai Santa Fe.
