Porsche seems to be working upon a tweaked version of the Boxster that was spotted testing. This car might wear the German carmaker’s GTS label. Porsche’s GTS models are put forward as sportier variants than the regular S models available. These cars are usually made available with a slight increase in power with adjustments in the aerodynamics and stiffened suspension.
The prototype of the Porsche Boxster that is spotted is said to be for an upcoming Boxster GTS. The car boasts of new bumpers with revised air-intakes. It brags LED daytime running lights. There are amendments to the design of the wheels. A new diffuser insert is seen at the back. Apart from the Boxster, a Cayman prototype was also spied accompanying the former one. This validates our belief that both the vehicles will receive the GTS treatment.
Coming to the mechanical bits, the cars are supposedly receiving a hike of 15bhp of power with tweaks to the engine. If these allegations are true, the Boxster GTS and its Cayman GTS twin will churn out 330bhp and 340bhp respectively. The cars will purportedly gain Porsche’s PASM active suspension damping as standard. Apart from the standard manual transmission, the German automaker’s PDK dual-clutch might be made available as an option which was not seen on the previous GTS models.
The new Porsche Boxster GTS might be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March or later at the Beijing Auto Show scheduled in April. The pricing of the car will be announced closer to the launch of the vehicle which might go on sale by mid-2014.
