Mercedes-Benz revealed the new C-Class made a dramatic entry at the Detroit Motor Show. It was showcased up on the stage amidst artificial fog with the limelight focused purely on it. According to the German carmaker, the new car is the most luxurious and innovative compact sedan the world has ever seen apart from the S-Class.
The German automaker recently launched the entry-level CLA-Class. To differentiate the 2015 C-Class from this vehicle, Mercedes has brought forward the new C-Class as a miniature version of the company's flagship S-Class saloon. The car will go on sale with buyers opting for a wide range of body styles and models, from economy to performance. Previously, these options including air suspension and the head-up display had only been reserved for its most premium models. Now, the company will offer these alternatives with the recent C-Class.
Mercedes-Benz has not revealed the mechanical bits of the car, however, it is planning to launch new engines for the 2015 C-Class. The first two cars to get the new engines will be the range-topping C63 AMG and a new variant called the C300. The C63 AMG is expected to be equipped with a V8 4.0-litre twin-turbo engine while the C300 will be powered by a 2.0-litre four cylinder turbo petrol.
The new C-Class which is larger and wider than the previous version will go on sale globally probably in the second half of this year. However, the vehicle will not be introduced in India this year. We hope that the manufacturer changes its plans and brings the four-door car in the same way as they launched the new S-Class in the country recently. The new C-Class will go up against the BMW 3 Series and the Audi A4.
