The upcoming facelifted version of the Mahindra Scorpio was spied testing yet again. Despite being in the same heavy camouflage, the detailed images of different parts reveal further about the exterior as well as interiors of the vehicle.
The spy pictures taken by blokes at Cartoq are of a parked car and hence show lot more features. This prototype looks like the top-end version of the SUV and most probably the features will be limited to this variant. The headlamps are either smoked double barrels or bi-xenon projectors. The front grille is more similar to the one seen on the Bolero with thick vertical slats. The front bumper is revised and the bonnet has integrated scoop. Similar is the case with the rear bumper – the tail lamps have been revamped and now sports a rectangular design.
The pictures include a couple of shots of the cabin giving us a glimpse of the changes to the interiors. This test vehicle shows beige interiors with wooden finish inserts. The instrumentation panel is changed and there is a possibility that Mahindra might include a touch screen infotainment system. The seating arrangement in the new Scorpio is unchanged.
The facelifted Scorpio may be powered by the same 2.2-litre mHawk turbo diesel engine delivering 120bhp of power. However it is also speculated that it might get the 140bhp motor from the XUV 500 with a six-speed-manual transmission.
This upcoming car has been spotted several times in and around Pune and South India. The facelifted Scorpio was spotted testing with emission testing equipment making us believe that Mahindra has made more than just cosmetic changes to the car. With the regular sightings of the car, we believe that the automaker has boosted its plans for the launch of this product along with the compact SUV, the S101. We can expect Mahindra to show us a glimpse of these cars at the Delhi Auto Expo scheduled to take place in February 2014.
