The 2014 spec of the Mahindra Scorpio has been spotted testing on the Mumbai Pune Expressway once again. The revamped car has been spotted several times in India at different places and this time it was photographed by the team at TopGear.
The details of the upcoming car have been hidden under its camouflage. The new Scorpio will get a new front grille, redesigned headlamps and will sport a front bumper with different crease lines. Refreshed taillamps, a new rear bumper and tailgate are the changes done on the rear.
On the inside, Mahindra has made changes to the dashboard and the upholstery as well. The photographers reported that the centre console is different from the outgoing Scorpio. This one gets a new steering wheel while borrowing many traits from the XUV 500.
It is still not sure if there are any changes to the mechanical bits. But since the spies also mention that this prototype was doing speeds of 150 kmph on the Expressway while being stable, there might be surely some changes done. They say that the current 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine on the present Scorpio which produces 120bhp might be replaced by the one from the XUV 500 producing 140bhp.
A similar prototype of the 2014 Scorpio was sighted with emission testing equipment recently. So apart from just the cosmetic changes, we can expect the carmaker to bring a lot more changes to the vehicle. Mahindra might launch this facelifted version of the Scorpio in the first half of 2014. We hope that the carmaker brings it to the Delhi Auto Expo scheduled in February 2014.
